…yourself in the Lord”
carries one of His special promises:
“…and He will give
you the desires of your heart.”
And another one:
“If because of
the Sabbath, you turn your foot
From doing
your own pleasure on My holy day,
And call the
Sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable,
And honor
it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking
your own pleasure
And speaking
your own word,
Then you
will take delight in the Lord,
And I will make
you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will
feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth
of the Lord has spoken.”
(Isaiah
58:13-14,NASB)
That’s a pretty good return for simply loving the Lord and
His special day!

So true. Delight ourselves IN him, not in all the other things around us. Hard to remember sometimes because this world points to so many other things, but He is where we'll find all we need:)
Beautifully said, Susan. Thank you :)
I appreciate the way you break down verses, Nancy, and the first "Delight" verse you mention is one of my faves! Have a great weekend. :)
Thank you, Dora. It's nice to know when my personal inspirational well is dry, I can always run to scripture that overflows with goodness to share. Blessings to you as well :)
Such a great reminder!! Thanks.
Thank you so much, Karla. God bless.
It seems the world is stepping away from delighting themselves in the Lord. We must instill this desire in our children and grandchildren. Thank you, Nancy.
Amen, Nancy. Beautiful blog.
